BACKGROUND
City Barbeque has been proudly serving the flavor of America since its first joint in 1999. Today, teams at the fast-casual barbeque brand’s 70+ locations smoke meats on site over local hickory wood and prepare homemade sides and desserts fresh every day. The growing brand operates in eight states and counting, serving the city’s best barbeque for dine-in, carryout, delivery, and catering.

CHALLENGE
City Barbeque launched its’ City Rewards loyalty program with the goals of strengthening customer retention, driving sales, and enhancing guest engagement. While adoption was steady, the brand saw an opportunity to make it even easier for guests to check in—particularly in the drive-thru, where manual check-ins were less frequent.
SOLUTION
Flybuy seamlessly detects the customer as they approach the joint and triggers a notification on the City Barbeque app, broadcasting their loyalty information via Bluetooth. As the customer nears the ordering counter or drive-thru, their loyalty details are automatically transmitted to the Point-of-Sale system, eliminating the need to scan or verbally provide loyalty numbers.
Additionally, Flybuy’s solution enables the digital menu board in the drive-thru to display the customer’s name, loyalty points, and any available offers creating a more personalized and engaging ordering experience.
RESULTS
Flybuy has streamlined the process for identifying loyalty members, leading to a significant increase in check-ins and an improved guest experience. This technology has helped City Barbeque continue to deliver convenience, speed, and hospitality while growing its successful City Rewards loyalty program.
